WWW.NETWORKS chosen as Telecom Systems Integrator for QP Ras Laffan to Mesaieed Ethane Gas Transmission Pipeline Project

Tekfen Engineering, an established EPC contractor from Turkey has selected WWW.NETWORKS as the telecommunications sub-contractor for the Ras Laffan to Mesaieed ethane gas transmission pipeline project of Qatar Petroleum, (GTC/05/124/ED).

Qatar Petroleum (QP) intends to install a new 24 inch pipeline from the existing DEL ”Station A2” in Ras Laffan Industrial City to Station-S in Mesaieed Industrial City to transport ethane gas from the Dolphin Energy project in Ras Laffan Industrial City, to meet the ethane demands of QP affiliates viz. QAPCO & QCHEM in Mesaieed Industrial City. This new pipeline will pass through two new stations namely Ras Laffan Cracker Station A21 and 72-SBV32 in addition to the existing stations.

The project involves Detailed Design, Engineering, Supply, System Integration, Installation and Commissioning of SDH (STM1) and PDH (8Mbps) optical links along with the associated voice and data signals for SCADA to new and existing stations. The contract also calls for implementing teleprotection between the Kahramaa substation and QP’s new substation including reconfiguration of the existing Network Management System.

This project introduces the Nokia OEM AXXEDGE SDH Multiplexer capable of bandwidth up to STM16 into Qatar Petroleum’s network. The Nokia Dynanet PDH equipment is used extensively by Qatar Petroleum and Kahramaa. A teleprotection unit capable of providing 64kbps G.703 interface and fibre optic interface will be used between the two substations.
