WWW.NETWORKS was recently awarded the telecommunication scope of work of the FEWA (Federal Electricity & Water Authority) tender E30/2005 from the main contractor Descon LLC.
The communication equipment for this project will be the GE TN1U STM1/4 SDH integrated access multiplexer which is ideally suited to the harsh environment of Electricity Utilities. The award of this project builds on the existing network of GE TN1U SDH multiplexers and makes the GE equipment the back bone of the FEWA communication network.
In addition to the standard interface channels such as serial data, voice and protection communication, the configuration of the equipment will include Ethernet thereby providing FEWA with an advanced Ethernet back bone over SDH.

The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) was formed with the issue of Federal Law No. 31 for 99 to undertake Ministry of Electricity & Water activities of producing and distributing Water and Electricity in the Northern Emirates (Ajman, Umm Al Qwain, Ras Al Khaimah & Fujairah).
FEWA’s objective is the fulfilment of water and electricity requirements in the Emirates under Ministry’s jurisdiction and to arrange construction of new projects to expand power generation and water production capacities.
